Authorities shut down a busy intersection for four hours after a high-speed crash involving three vehicles on Forest Hill Boulevard.

The accident occurred when a driver of an Audi A7 traveling eastbound along Forest Hill Boulevard, attempted to make a left turn at the intersection of South Congress Avenue. At the same time, a red Honda CRV, which was traveling westbound on Forest Hill Boulevard, approached the intersection without stopping at the red light.

Subsequently, the Honda CRV crashed into the Audi and lifted it into the air; the Honda landed on its side as it glided into the path of a Chrysler sedan. Then, the Chrysler struck the vehicle, causing it to rest on its roof before coming to a stop.

The driver of the Honda CRV was found hanging by his seatbelt when emergency services arrived. He suffered severe injuries from the crash and EMS rushed him to the nearest hospital in critical condition. Additionally,Β a front seat passenger in the CRV suffered life-threatening injuries and emergency crews transported her to the hospital in an ambulance; however, she died before reaching the hospital.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Chrysler suffered a neck injury from the crash; EMS transported him to the hospital for treatment. No one else was hurt in the crash.

Emergency services worked for four hours to restore traffic on the busy intersection. The Florida Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
