Lake Worth Man Crashes Car Into Truck, Attempts To Hit Pedestrians
BOCA RATON Fl. — A 29-year-old Lake Worth man was arrested after crashing into a truck and then trying to run over two pedestrians.
He faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, hit-and-run, and grand theft of a motor vehicle.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said the man was driving a red Ford Focus recklessly at a high speed. He added that the car struck a truck, spun out, and left the scene.
A short time later, the car attempted to run over a woman and her boyfriend walking near the highway. The couple went to a nearby gas station to call 911 when the car tried to run them over again.
A deputy spotted the car speeding south on the highway before turning onto a dead-end road. The deputy ordered the driver out of the car at gunpoint.
He said the woman, who was nearly run over, identified the man as the driver. The damage to the car matched the damage to the truck.
The driver was booked into jail, where he was being held without bond.
No serious injuries were reported.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded to distracted driving. “In my many years as a Personal Injury Lawyer I’ve helped many victims that were injured because someone was distracted and crashed into their vehicles. If you’ve been injured by someone because they weren’t paying attention to the road, please call me so I can help you get compensation for your damages.”
