Man Charged With Child Endangerment After Horrific Crash In Palm Beach County
Video shot from a helicopter shows a man leading Florida Highway Patrol troopers on a high-speed chase and crashing into a pickup.
The man then took off on foot while holding a toddler in a carrier. The Palm Beach County Department of Public Safety released the video, per The Post.
The incident happened in Palm Springs, Palm Beach County. Authorities say the man was traveling about 100mph before a Florida Highway Patrol trooper deployed a tire deflation device that caused him to rear-end a pickup that had stopped at a light. He jumped out of his SUV, grabbed the child carrier and ran. He then climbed into another vehicle containing a man and a child.
The pickup driver and a passenger in his vehicle were both unconscious when police arrived at the crime scene. They were taken to a hospital in Indian town.
Police say the suspect, identified as a 66-year-old man, attempted a carjacking before the male driver leaped out of the car and grabbed a child from the back seat reported The Post News.
Troopers blocked the vehicle and got everyone out . He was charged with child endangerment, evading arrest, and possession of a controlled substance. The child was released to Child Protective Services
