Man Left With Trauma After Being Struck By FHP Vehicle
An elderly man was struck by a Florida Highway Patrol truck on the Upper East Side, authorities and Florida Highway Patrol officials said.
The 42-year-old man was crossing 197th Road near 96th Street with a cane when the FHP truck struck him while it was turning, witnesses said. The pedestrian had the light, according to witnesses.
“The driver wanted to keep going, people had to tell him to stop,” said a 33-year-old witness around the scene after the crash. “People were yelling please stop, please stop.”
A Florida Highway Patrol spokesman said, an ambulance transported the pedestrian to a hospital in Riviera Beach in Palm Beach County.
Florida Highway Patrol officials did not immediately release whether there is any criminality suspected in the crash.
Florida Highway Patrol also said, the cause of the crash is still under investigation but didn’t disclose if the FHP sergeant driving the truck will be charged or not.
