Man Suffers Injury In Truck Collision Near Fort Pierce
FORT PIERCE, Fl — A man was airlifted to the hospital after a truck collision, the St. Lucie County Fire District said.
A pickup truck crashed into a semi causing it to roll over. It’s unclear what caused the crash.
First responders arrived at the scene of the wreck.
“Units were dispatched to an MVC in Fort Pierce involving a pickup truck and a semi. One adult male was transported by ground to a local trauma hospital,” authorities said.
Crews found two men trapped in the semi and had to cut them out. Both were taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce, where the driver died and the passenger was hospitalized in serious condition.
The pickup’s driver and his passenger initially refused medical help, the Fire-Rescue report said. The two men were later taken to a local trauma hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Neither report identifies the people in the SUV or the pickup.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded about the crash. “Cases involving accidents with trucks are always subject to heightened scrutiny because of the additional regulations placed on drivers of those vehicles. Unfortunately, in our practice, we have seen numerous instances where drivers blatantly violate these regulations, which results in catastrophic consequences.”
