Miami School Teacher Sustains Fatal Injuries In Rear End Collision
A high school teacher from Miami was fatally injured after his vehicle was rear ended at an intersection in Vero Beach.
A school teacher was involved in a rear end collision at the intersection of 20th Street and 66th Avenue. The teacher was driving a Volvo Sedan along the eastbound lane of 20th Street. She approached the intersection to make a right turn onto 66th Avenue.
A Mercedes Benz crashed into his vehicle from behind, pushing the Volvo into the intersection. The Volvo Sedan hit a Volkswagen Sedan. They collided in northbound lane of 66th Avenue.
The school teacher was seriously injured in the crash and the Volvo was badly damaged in the crash. Emergency responders were on scene to transport the 32 year old teacher to the hospital for treatment. The driver of the Mercedes Benz came out his vehicle with minor injuries. Eyewitnesses say he offered to help the injured teacher after the crash.
The driver of the Volkswagen sustained a laceration on his forehead and was treated by paramedics on the scene. No one else was hurt in the crash.
The Florida Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash.
Emergency services spent three hours clearing the wreckage and attending to injured victims before the intersection was free of traffic.
