Multiple-Vehicle Crash On I-95 Leaves Three Injured

A car switching lanes on I-95 has led to a multiple-vehicle crash, leaving three people including a trooper injured, Florida Highway Patrol spokesman said.

FHP 1418

The multiple-vehicle crash happened on Interstate 95 near Hypoluxo Road in Boynton Beach. A car switching lanes, driven by a 31-year-old man of Boynton Beach, hit another car, driven by a 27-year-old woman of Palm Springs. The woman’s car then flipped onto the trooper’s patrol car and hit him, Wysocky said.

The trooper was watching for speeders at the time of the crash. The crash left the trooper with serious head injuries and the woman unconscious. First emergency responders arrived at the crash scene shortly after the crash happened. Both victims were promptly airlifted to the hospital.

Paramedics took the trooper and the woman to Delray Medical Center in critical conditions while the other driver who switched lanes was taken to JFK Medical Center with minor injuries, troopers said.

“The trooper has been with the highway patrol for 12 years. There are hopes that he will recover from his head injuries but he may need additional rehabilitation to recover fully,” said Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Mark Wysocky. His immediate family has been contacted, Wysocky added.

Florida Highway Patrol did not release any additional information about the crash and Wysocky said it’s still under investigation.
