One dead after car crashes into Sunrise lake

SUNRISE, FL – One person died on Tuesday night after a car crashed into a lake in Sunrise, according to Local 10 News. 

The accident occurred near the intersection of Northwest 12th Street and Silver Palm Boulevard. A driver lost control of their vehicle and plunged into the nearby lake.

A 17-year-old bystander jumped into the water to assist the driver but died in the attempt. First responders eventually rescued the driver from the submerged vehicle.

It is not clear what caused the driver to enter the lake.
