One Injured, Another Dead In Palm Beach County Car Crash
An unnamed male passenger in a 2005 Lexus was killed at the scene of a crash on Interstate 95 that shut down the highway’s southbound lanes near Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash occurred between a Lexus and a Volvo, FHP said. The 21-year old driver of the Lexus was taken to Saint Mary’s Medical Center where he later died. The passenger was not injured.
The Lexus was traveling south on I-95 when there was a tire blowout that caused the car to spin into the path of a 2015 Volvo, FHP said in its crash report.
The Volvo collided with the Lexus’s rear, according to the agency. A 47-year old man was driving the car and was not injured in the wreck.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Investigators hope to get all southbound lanes of Interstate 95 open according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
According to the FHP, no southbound lanes are open and traffic is being diverted.
FHP has not revealed the name of the driver who died.
