Palm Beach Sheriff Injured In Car Accident In Royal Palm Beach
A Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputy was injured in a wreck in Royal Palm Beach, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputy Dennis Raymond was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Okeechobee Boulevard and State Road 7 when a 2016 Dodge Ram slammed into the back of his 2017 Ford Explorer, pushing the SUV into the 2016 Ford Mustang.
The pickup driver, a 29-year-old man, appeared to be intoxicated at the time of the crash, authorities said. The West Palm Beach man and the deputy were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
The Mustang driver, a 23-year-old man, also sustained minor injuries in the wreck but was not taken to a hospital.
The deputy and the 23-year-old driver were wearing seat belts, according to a crash report. The 29-year old driver was not.
PBSO is continuing to investigate the wreck. The sheriff’s office said charges are pending.
The investigators and Florida Highway Patrol are trying to determine whether alcohol or drugs was a factor, the crash report said.
Anyone with additional information on the crash should contact the Florida Highway Patrol officials or the Palm Beach County police department.
