Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Car Near Lytle Street and South Dixie Highway
According to the police, a 41-year-old male was brutally struck by a motor vehicle at the intersection of Lytle Street and South Dixie Highway in West Palm Beach.
The car was seen traveling northbound when the pedestrian was hit. “It appears the pedestrian was attempting to cross the street prior to the crash,” West Palm Beach Police Sergent Dave Lefont explained.
First emergency responders arrived shortly after the crash happened. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the car was shaken up after hearing the victim had died. “I feel so terrible,” he said. “The victim came out of nowhere, across the street into the driveway.” The driver was on his way to drop his two young kids at a relatives house when he ran into the victim. “I saw someone crossing out of nowhere and I had lost a little bit of control,” he said.
No drugs or alcohol were involved in the incident, Sgt. Lefont added. It still remains unclear if charges will be filed or not. The police have not released the victim’s identity yet.
