Pedestrian struck by semi, killed in West Palm Beach

WEST PALM BEACH, FL – A man was struck by a semi and killed in a West Palm Beach intersection on Wednesday, WFLX reports. 

The accident occurred at the intersection of Okeechobee Boulevard and North Jog Road around 6:10 a.m. The victim was leaving the CVS parking lot pushing a shopping cart when he stepped onto North Jog Road.

A 2013 Peterbilt semi was also attempting to make a turn from Okeechobee Boulevard onto North Jog Road whe the driver saw the pedestrian in his path. Attempting to avoid the collision, he swerved to the left but still struck the man.

The victim died at the scene.

The truck driver was uninjured and is not expected to face charges.
