Pedestrian Suffers Head Injuries In Truck Accident In U.S. 1 North Of Eighth Street
A pedestrian was struck by a truck while he was attempting to cross U.S. 1 just north of Eighth Street, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said. The truck accident happened in the 800 block of U.S. 1, according to the FHP.
The pedestrian suffered head injuries in the truck accident according to the crash report.
First emergency responders arrived shortly after the accident happened. The pedestrian was transported to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce with serious injuries, said Lt. Alvaro Feola, FHP spokesman.
Feola said the driver of the truck stopped, but no further details were available. It is unknown whether the driver was speeding prior to the truck accident.
Traffic backed up for hours along U.S. 1 just north of Eighth Street as both sides of the street were down to one lane. It is unknown when all lanes on U.S. 1 will be opened. FHP is investigating the truck accident involving a pedestrian, Feola said.
