Port Salerno Car Crash Critically Injured One And Left Four Others With Minor Injuries
A woman celebrating her 46th birthday was in critical condition and her friend was also injured when the car they were in plowed into a school bus in Port Salerno in Martin County, witnesses and the Florida Highway Patrol officials said.
The birthday woman and her friends were heading home when Debra Paul, 51, almost lost her life in the crash, authorities and Florida Highway Patrol Officials said.
Debra, of Delray Beach, was in the back seat of the Nissan sedan when its driver missed a Fellsmere Expressway exit, lost control and hit the school bus, the Florida Highway Officials said.
Her friend, who FHP identified as a 48-year-old of Boynton Beach, was in the front passenger seat and suffered serious, but not life-threatening, injuries, Florida Highway Patrol officials said. She and the unidentified driver were taken to a hospital. The 48-year- old was listed in stable condition. The driver was listed in critical condition.
Two other students in the school bus were also transported to a nearby hospital.
Police are trying to determine if alcohol was involved. FHP is urging anyone with relevant information concerning the crash to contact the department.
