Police officials were tracking a stolen 2018 Chevy Camaro, which was speeding eastbound when it rear-ended a 2010 Mazda carrying two people. It then hit a home-heating-oil truck on Route 25 near South Beach in Martin County, Police authorities said.

The Mazda burst into flames, killing its six occupants and struck a 1999 Infiniti, whose driver appeared not to be seriously injured, police officials said.“I came out to go shopping, and then I turn the corner and there’s a car in flames right in front of me,” said a 77-year- old woman who lives on the road where the crash had happened.

The force of the crash ejected one occupant of the stolen Camaro. A second occupant and the truck driver were also taken to a hospital in Indian River County with non-life-threatening injuries.

Indian River County cops were alerted to the stolen car and tracked it to an apartment complex about a mile from the crash scene.
