Six Pedestrians Killed In Separate Accidents In Florida
Six pedestrians were fatally struck in separate accidents across Palm Beach County and Martin County, authorities said.
A 56-year-old woman crossing Atlantis near Wellington Avenue in Palm Beach County was hit by a 2011 white BMW, according to cops.
The woman who was crossing the bustling thoroughfare mid-block was pronounced dead at a Palm Beach County Hospital. Officials withheld his identity pending family notification of her death.
The driver of the BMW remained at the scene.
Later, a 69-year-old woman was killed crossing Jensen Beach in Martin County, police said.
A 69-year-old woman was jaywalking across the street near 257th Street in Jensen Beach when he was struck by a 1999 Ford Econoline van going Eastbound on Indiantown, cops said.
First responders rushed the victim to a Martin County hospital, but she could not be saved.
The driver of the van stayed at the scene and no charges were filed.
Again in West Palm Beach,four women were struck by a vehicle while walking across the Jupiter Island Expressway, according to police.
The pedestrians, who were not immediately identified, are believed to be between the ages of 50-55. They were crossing near West 179th Street when they were run over by the vehicle, cops said.
Investigators said, the motorist initially fled the scene, but eventually reported the accident and is cooperating.
