Stuart Woman Still In Critical Condition After Multi-Car Crash On I-95

A 26-year-old Stuart woman remained in critical condition after she was injured in a multi-car crash that shut down a stretch of Interstate 95 in the Jupiter-Hobe Sound area, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The victim was injured when her 2007 Scion was involved in one of two crashes that had occurred along the same stretch of northbound I-95 in southern Martin County.

The crashes, which involved six vehicles, happened south of the Bridge Road exit, near the truck weigh station in Hobe Sound.

According to a FHP report, a 55-year old, of Hollywood, was driving south on I-95 when he lost control of his 2003 Toyota Tundra pickup and went across the grass median and into the northbound lanes. A 26-year old, of Palm Beach Gardens, was driving north and tried to avoid the Toyota, but crashed into her Scion, the report said.

The victim was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach.

The 55-year old and his 53-year old passenger, of Miami, were taken to Lawnwood Medical Center and St. Mary’s, both with minor injuries. The 26-year old also had minor injuries, but she was treated at the scene, the report said.

Investigators are trying to determine whether alcohol was a factor in the crash. According to reports made by the Florida Highway Patrol no charges have been filed.
