Teen Struck And Killed In Port St. Lucie

Port St. Lucie police stated that a teenage pedestrian has died after being hit by a car.

The victim was struck around at SW Rosser Boulevard and SW Apricot Road.

After a long while, police authorities say they have identified the struck pedestrian as a 16-year-old teenager.

Authorities say they were finally able to identify the boy while canvassing the neighborhood near the accident site. They say his brother approached police, and gave them a description of what he was wearing when he had left the house.

His family told police that he was walking to McDonald’s.

He and his family had just moved to Port St. Lucie from Broward County, and was not yet enrolled in the local school district.

The driver involved in the crash stopped and called 911, and is not facing charges.

An assistant police chief said it was a very sensitive case.

“We may never know what happened because we can’t talk to him and find out what his intentions were crossing the road. It appears he was standing in the middle of the road, in the median, and it was just an unfortunate tragedy,” he said.

Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded about the crash.  “A Hit-and-run is one of the worst type of accidents.  When that person that fled the scene is caught you have rights that are different then in a regular car crash.  Make sure you speak to a licensed professional about your rights”.
