Three Adults And Two Children Dead After Car Crashed Into Spectators
An out-of-control car plowed into dozens of spectators and their families on a St. Lucie County street, killing three adults, two children and injuring four other people.
The casualties are all members of two extended families.
A 45-year-old man died along with his 7-year-old granddaughter and 6-year old grandson.
His 5-year-old granddaughter was among the injured.
The 45-year-old man, who was retired, was an incredible man, said his friend.
Also killed was a 24-year-old truck driver and his 32-year-old sister.
The driver was with his 32-year-old sister,’’ said a cousin, who asked not to be identified.
Also hurt was a 21-year-old man
All of the injured were listed in critical condition.
One of the 8-year-old girls who was hit had been dressed as a cheetah, the other as a princess.
The driver of the car was being treated at Delray Medical Center.
Police believe he lost control of the vehicle after suffering a seizure or experiencing some other medical problem, however, what caused the crash is not yet certain.
FHP is asking anyone with relevant information concerning the crash to contact the Florida Highway Patrol Department.
