Three Teenagers Injured Near Delray Beach High School
Three teenagers were injured in a wreck near the Delray Beach High School, Delray Beach Fire Rescue authorities said.
The two-car crash happened on Delray Beach Avenue by the entrance to the high school. At least one of the people injured in the wreck is a student at the school, the Delray Beach police said.
A Toyota RAV4 was heading east on Atlantic and tried to turn left into the high school from the right lane, according to the Delray Beach police said.
The SUV cut across the lanes and collided with a westbound Ford F-150, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
Two passengers in the SUV were trapped in the car and had to be extricated, rescue crews said. They were both taken as trauma patients to Delray Medical Center.
The SUV driver was injured as well and taken to a hospital for minor injuries.
Two people in the pickup were also hurt and transported to a hospital in Palm Beach County.
Authorities, as well as the Florida Highway Patrol officials, are still investigating exactly what caused the crash. Although the Florida Highway Patrol officials said either drugs or alcohol may have been the cause of the crash.
