Truck Driver Responsible For The Death Of A 5-Year-Old Broward County Girl
A 5-year-old girl died after being struck by a pickup truck in a parking lot in Broward County, FHP authorities said.
The girl was identified by the Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office as 5-year-old Michelle Armstrong, per FHP reports.
Police said, the victim was leaving the theme park after a visit with her siblings when she slipped away from them and darted between two cars.
A spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol Department, said the driver of the truck had stopped to render aid and was distraught after the accident. Charges have not be filed against him yet.
FHP is advising all parents and older siblings in the county to always make sure they grab their little ones because they do have a tendency to get away from them, especially in areas with high traffic volume.
Fire officials said, a helicopter was initially called but the request was later canceled when Michelle died at the scene.
In a statement, reps from Broward County said they were deeply saddened by the girl’s death.
Florida Highway Patrol said, the girl was the only victim on the crash scene. The pickup driver is currently being questioned by police authorities.
