Two Car Crash On SE Federal Highway Leaves Man Hospitalized
Authorities are investigating a two-car crash that happened on SE Federal Highway near Stuart in West Palm Beach, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
According to police, two cars crashed on SE Federal Highway and one car overturned. A West Palm Beach man suffered critical injuries after a Honda crashed into his 2011 Nissan Maxima on SE Federal Highway near Stuart, according to an official traffic crash report.
The injured victim was eastbound on Federal Highway when he attempted to turn left to use an exit ramp. As he turned left, authorities said a vehicle that was headed in the same direction rear-ended his vehicle. The force of the impact caused the victim’s car to hit a utility pole on the northwest corner of the intersection, overturned and came to rest in the southbound lanes of traffic.
Investigators are still investigating the cause of the accident. Neither alcohol nor drugs seem to be a factor in the crash, according to the report.
Authorities confirmed there was a weather related power outage in the area. It is unclear if the traffic signals were restored at this time. Traffic operations division does not have further information about the crash, staff said.
The injured driver was transported to the emergency unit of a local hospital, FHP officials said. The driver appears to be in a serious condition, an eyewitness stated.
