Two Critically Injured In Car Crash Near Boynton Beach

A woman has been critically injured after the car she was driving hit a school bus at high speed near Boynton Beach.

Palm Beach highway 119

The woman was traveling along Delray Beach Road when her car suddenly veered off the road and into the school bus. The impact tore the vehicle apart and it erupted in flames, leaving a wide area of scorched earth around it.

There were no skid marks on the straight stretch of road. Other motorists who witnessed the crash stopped and ran to the scene, pulling the woman and her 13-year old niece out of the burning car and taking them across the road where paramedics tried to resuscitate them.

The woman had and the 13-year old niece were taken to the hospital in critical condition, Florida Highway Patrol reported.

The school bus also had casualties as six students were rushed to a nearby hospital.

Florida Highway Patrol said, there was a sense of urgency about how people were acting, but could not tell if anyone was hurt. One woman was sitting on an embankment near the accident scene and being tended to by paramedics, the witness said.

Florida Highway Patrol will provide an update as soon as possible.
