Two Left Critical After Palm Beach Car Crash
A car wash worker in Palm Beach struck and injured a 43-year-old woman and also left her 80-year-old husband critically injured while pulling out of the drive-through on Greenacres, cops said.
“He ran the lady over. He crushed her,” recalled one witness, who declined to be named.
According to police, the employee at a Greenacres car wash on Biscayne Drive had rear-ended the Honda Accord that the elderly couple arrived in as it was going through the car wash. The pair was inspecting the damage when the worker slammed into them and then hit reverse and struck them both again, witnesses said.
He had initially backed up into the building in a panic after the rear-end collision before accelerating forward and nailing the man and woman just moments later, the witnesses said.
The woman sustained severe injuries to her head and body and was rushed to a nearby hospital. Her husband was transported to the hospital and listed in critical condition.
Cops said, the car-wash worker remained on the scene and there were no immediate charges against him. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash and it is urging anyone with additional information concerning the crash to contact the department at once.
