Two Pedestrians Critical After Being Hit By 51-Year-Old Driver

Two pedestrians were hospitalized after they were hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard and Dixie Highway in West Palm Beach, Florida Highway Patrol reports.

The West Palm Beach police authorities said, a witness told them that the victims were walking south near the northeast side of a bridge.

A vehicle driving west from a nearby gas station struck the pedestrians. The driver, a 51-year-old Port St. Lucie man, said the people came out of nowhere and hit his windshield. After the crash, the 51-year-old driver stayed at the scene and called police.

The victims were taken to a nearby hospital. The extent of their injuries have not yet been released.

Police authorities said, a preliminary investigation indicated that the driver will not face charges.

Police authorities and Florida Highway Patrol have shut down Dixie Highway and traffic on Lakes Boulevard at 114th Avenue as they investigate.

The road was back open to traffic.
