Two People Seriously Hurt In Indian River County Crash

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Two people were seriously injured in a traffic crash on Interstate 95, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Highway Patrol.

The northbound lanes were shut down for about two hours for the two-car crash which happened after dusk, according to FHP. The wreck happened at mile marker 155, north of State Road 60, the sheriff’s office said.

Both of the people hospitalized suffered non-life-threatening injuries, said FHP Lt. Yanko Reyes.

A 24-year-old woman from North Huntington, Pennsylvania, was the driver of a Honda Civic involved in the crash, FHP said. She was flown to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce, Reyes said.

A 30-year-old Navarreman was a passenger in the other car, a Toyota Prius, and was injured, FHP said. He was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne for treatment, Reyes said.

The crash remains under investigation.
