Woman Crashes After Fleeing Police

Woman arrested after crashing into a pickup truck and car jacking another vehicle, police said in a statement.

A woman traveling above the speed limit crashed into a pickup while being chased by the police, then took off on foot while holding a baby in a carrier, the Martin County Department of Public Safety stated in a report after releasing a video of the incidence.

The incident happened in Indiantown. Authorities say the woman was traveling about 100mph before a Martin County trooper deployed a tire-deflation device that caused her to rear-end a pickup that had stopped at a light. She jumped out of her SUV, grabbed the child carrier and ran. She then climbed into another vehicle occupying a woman and child. The pickup driver was unconscious when police arrived at the crime scene. He was taken to a hospital in Indian town.

Police say the suspect, identified as a 29-year-old woman, attempted a carjacking before the female driver leaped out of the car and grabbed a child from the back seat, reports The Post News.

Troopers blocked the vehicle and got everyone out, including the woman, who was handcuffed in the middle of the roadway. She was charged with child endangerment, evading arrest, and possession of a controlled substance. The baby was taken to Child Protective Services.
