Woman Dies In Multiple Vehicle Crash In Martin County

A woman from Hobe Sound was killed in a multiple vehicle crash along Southwest 96th Street in Martin County.

Authorities say the crash occurred when a 2017 Nissan Pathfinder, driven by a 46 year old woman from Hobe Sound, collided with two other vehicles.

The Nissan Pathfinder was traveling on the westbound lane of Southwest 96th Street when it drifted into the eastbound lane, colliding with a 1998 Ford F-150 pickup which was traveling in the opposite direction. The Pathfinder continued on its trajectory until it collided with another vehicle, a 2013 Ford F-150, before coming to rest.

Firemen from the Martin County Fire Rescue Division were spotted on the scene as they evacuated the injured passengers. The driver of the Nissan Pathfinder was killed due to fatal injuries sustained in the crash. Her front seat passenger, 19 year old Richard Gobler, sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Lawnwood Regional Medical Centre & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce.

Evan James Kobida, a 34 year old man from Stuart, was also injured in the crash. He was rushed to Lawnwood for treatment.

According to the FHP, everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seat belt and alcohol has been ruled out as a factor in the crash. Investigations are still ongoing into the cause of the fatal crash.
