“The baby was in the car seat,” a witness tells Florida Highway Patrol of the crash. “That was the only thing that saved the baby.” The Florida Highway Patrol report said, a Black SUV was driving at high speeds in Boynton Beach when the driver tried to pass another car, lost control, careened across the lanes, and ended up striking a bridge.

The dead have been identified as a 23-year-old driver, 27-year-old front-seat passenger and two 19-year-old’s, who were in the back. The two 19-year-old’s were brothers. The front-seat passenger was pinned in the car by the impact. Those in the back were ejected.

The child, who belonged to 27-year-old front-seat passenger, had just turned two. First responders described the crash as one of the worst they have seen. “Just the amount of carnage I guess involved in this crash, it kind of set a lot of people back,” says a Florida Highway Patrol official.
