Cyclist killed in Lake Worth hit-and-run

LAKE WORTH, FL – A 74-year-old cyclist was killed in Lake Worth Beach on Friday by a driver who fled the scene, WPTV reports.

The victim was standing with his bicycle on 12th Avenue South when he was struck by an out-of-control 2004 Toyota Matrix.

The Toyota had been speeding down Cochran Avenue when the driver lost control attempting to make a turn. The vehicle crashed off the road and hit the cyclist and a building before coming to rest in a parking lot.

The driver and one passenger fled the scene. Two other passengers remained but were unable to identify the driver.
